CODE OF ETHICS
Preamble:

The Associated Detectives and Security Agencies of Illinois (ADSAI) has adopted the following Code of Ethics that applies to ADSAI members in the course of their professional activities as well as conduct within ADSAI.

Illinois Private Detectives and Security Contractors are afforded a level of trust, due to fulfillment of education, experience, examination and other requirements established by Illinois regulation, in carrying out professional duties. In exchange for that trust, members are required to carry out professional responsibilities at the highest level of honesty and professional integrity. This Code of Ethics applies to the behavior of members of ADSAI when they either perform the role of a private detective or security contractor or represent themselves as members of ADSAI.
Member shall:

Act with adherence to all laws and legal requirements. Specifically, members are expected to know, understand and act in compliance with (225 ILCS 447/) Private Detective, Private Alarm, Private Security, Fingerprint Vendor, and Locksmith Act of 2004.

Not violate state, Federal or other laws as applicable.

Not disclose or use any confidential information obtained in the course of practice.

Act in all professional work with honesty, truthfulness and lack of deception.

Contract with clients for work that they can reasonably accomplish and within the scope of their profession license.

Obtain the necessary education and training required to maintain licensure.

Maintain the required level of insurance to practice.

Act with integrity and respect for the profession of Licensed Private Detective, Licensed Private Security Contractor and other members of the profession.

Positively promote of the profession to students, media, in social media and in general communications.
